A very RAD Instameet!
On Saturday 25th February we celebrated RinkaDink turning 3 years old. This was a HUGE deal for us, considering the many, many life-altering events we have been through personally in those 3 years! So, we decided to celebrate accordingly. We had a good old-fashioned party with goodie bags and 'celebrity' guest stars and cupcakes - why should kids have all the fun?! Almost 60 RAD humans turned up on Saturday to our studio and a handful celebrated across the pond in America, Scotland and England - the response was crazy!
I took as many photos as I could but I'll be perfectly honest - I was having way too much craic and kept forgetting. Lindsay had the GoPro set up in a corner to make the epic time-lapse and I took a few detail shots of some of the handmade goodies we had in the gift bags, the food, the decorations and some of our guests enjoying themselves. I hope all of this gives you an inkling of the fun that was had and the amazing energy that this crowd of gorgeous humans created. It was honestly THE BEST DAY EVER, and we don't say that lightly! Some points to note:
• Spoilt. Rotten. Seriously, #radsnapsgang, there was no need. We can barely take in the amount of gifts and cards we received. The party was not about that at all - we wanted a morning for us to give back and say thank YOU for the support, but our #radsnappers are just good humans and spoiled us with so much goodness. And let me tell you, they know us so well. Handmade, glittery, lightning bolts, bubbles, sincere, funny as hell, stationary heaven and glamorous...just some of the words and phrases to describe our pile of goodies! The cards were all filled with messages that will keep us going for the entire year. We won't need to buy wine or bubbles till Christmas (or end of summer, knowing us 😜) and don't even start me on the sweet treats. Lindsay got a lot of her favourite sugary treats and I got so many non-sugar treat bags - I can't get over the thoughtfulness. Thank you EVERYONE. Sincerely. We are so touched.
• The energy in the room. We've had so many messages since Saturday from people who were there, referencing the energy in the room. I know it gave me a real lift, I don't think my feet have touched the ground yet! The #radsnapsgang are the best humans on this earth for lifting you up, making you laugh, welcoming you in and giving you the feel goods. We had a little station for people to write lovely anonymous notes to put in the goodie bags so that everyone could go home with some of the Rad Vibes and it worked out beautifully.
• The bravery. Don't think I didn't notice you, you who came on your own. That is so impressive. And don't think I didn't see you, the ones looking out for those tentatively standing alone, gazing nervously around. I saw you all meeting and greeting, sharing stories, looking at each other's pictures on the wall, recalling the big life events of each other on this, the first day you had met. That was really great.
• The laughing. My stomach muscles hurt the next day. From all the laughing. They really did. That's what a birthday party should do to you.
Anyway, I know I could talk Saturday for a long time, and I probably will. But let me just end by saying that this little community is one of my favourite parts of running RinkaDink. Yes, we started the hashtag, but you all magic'd it to life and made it into the energy-giving, uplifting and wonderful thing that it is. We are non-exclusive. You don't have to be 'creative'. You don't have to be a mum. You don't have to be a woman (hi Pat!). You certainly don't have to pay. Everyone is welcome. Just start by taking a photo on a Saturday (or if it suits better, a Sunday) and hashtag it #radsnaps17 . That's you, you are now a part of the #radsnapsgang. Enjoy getting to know everyone because I can tell you now, they are the very best of humans. Every one of them.
Thank you x1 million for all your support. We'd be lost without our most fervent supporters, we appreciate you and are grateful for you every day. 😘
Thanks to Christine at Electric Alphabet for letting us use the number 3 in our nook. It looked fab!
So much gorgeous handmade eye candy. Our #radsnapsgang know us so well!
Dozens of cards filled with sweet messages like this. Our hearts were full
The half-used tub of sudocrem in our gift bag from Fiona made us laugh because we thought she was saying it would come in handy...for something?! But then she sent us a message apologising for leaving behind Elle's sudocrem and it all made sense! Gave us a laugh anyway!
Quick thanks to: J Bird Bakery for the amazing cupcakes and also to Jack & Jillaroo for a special addition to our goodie bags. You GirlBosses rock 😘
